What happens if my customer leaves during one of the upsells or downsells and doesn't reach the "Thank You Page"?
Great question. You don't have to worry about this. The initial order and all accepted upsells or downsell offers are charged. You won't lose those. And your customer will receive an email confirmation from your store as usual.
What payment gateways do you support?

How is this different from other products that show similar product during checkout?
Showing similar products during the checkout process is a good idea. It's what McDonalds does when they ask "do you want fries with that?"
Is shipping calculated on the upsells?
You have three options for this. You can charge a flat rate for each specific upsell or downsell. You can apply the same shipping rate as the parent product or you can offer free shipping.
I'm using your Order Bump feature with Handsome Checkout to offer upsells on the checkout page. Do I really need One Click Upsells? Isn't that duplicating efforts?
The Order Bump feature that comes with Handsome Checkout is great but you will be limited in how much you can charge for an Order Bump product. With One Click Upsells you have more space to sell your upsell product and demonstrate why it's so great. This means you can offer it at a higher price.
