There are lots of considerations for proper eCommerce SEO, but being shut down by Amazon is not one I'm familiar with. One of my clients is one of the largest sellers on Amazon, but also runs a highly successful site of their own and we often outrank Amazon in Google. To my knowledge, Amazon has never asked them to shut down their site.
Outranking Google isn't easy, but you do have an advantage by having a niche site, whereas Amazon must spread their massive link equity across an incredible number of products and pages. Another advantage is Google wants to diversify search results - having only Amazon rank wouldn't be a useful search experience.
If you do launch your own site, I do recommend having different descriptions & formatting than you provide Amazon, especially since you already have been on Amazon for some time. Best of luck!
