I have just fixed the error "Liquid error: Memory limits exceeded" for my customer using Shopify. It is not related to my migration service, but I still want to help him. Shopify does not support debugging error, so I had to check every plugins and read all the code line-by-line. Finally, I found out that is a small bug of Porto Theme.
This error due to a very simple reason, but it took me 1 hour to determine it. In PHP, I can fix it in 1 minute.
Shopify is one of the most popular eCommerce platforms, but its community is not large, it has a wide range of apps with poor features. Why? Because if someone wants to submit his App to Shopify Market, they will reject it with a dozens of silly reasons. Therefore, many developers have to strip out lots of app features to get their app displayed in the Shopify Market.
From my perspective, Shopify is just suitable for small businesses. If you looking for a more flexible and controllable eCommerce platform, open-source platforms such as WooCommerce or PrestaShop should be the better choices.
You are a good developer, so you can work better in Open-Source softwares. I'm a developer too, and I choose WooCommerce(WordPress) for my website.
I do not advertise my website or my service, but if you want to move to other platform, you can think about my Shopify Migration Service. I will try my best to help you.
Last words, thank you Jasper, you are so kind!
