How much of a factor is the owner’s persona in the continuing success of a business vs the systems in place? Some smaller ecommerce businesses are successful because the customers know, like and trust the owner e.g. a charismatic founder with a ‘passion product’

Are you willing to pay a healthy revenue multiple? How difficult would it be for you to simply copy what the target company is doing i.e. if the product being sold is not proprietary could you set up a similar store, use similar landing pages and run similar ad campaigns?

Do you have other advantages besides cash that can help you grow the business you buy? E.g. an existing customer base for some other products that you can sell the acquired business’s products to? Or some other product that you can sell to the acquired businesses customers?

How much time are you willing to spend running the acquired business? Will you hire someone to run it?
