Does GoDaddy buy domain names you've searched then try to re-sell them to you?
I was searching available domain names for a personal finance site on GoDaddy. One was catchy, only two words and, to my surprise, not taken. But my joy quickly turned to grief when I came back an hour later with a credit card ready to buy, it was taken and the price was $999. It is unlikely that someone else had the same idea just after me and bought it. The only explanation is that GoDaddy knew I had searched it and so bought it pre-emptively. Is this a common thing among registrars?
