Is the term "unicorn" good or evil?
(Context: It is obviously a good thing when an investor gets a $1 billion plus exit but the obsession with trying to become one has destroyed lots of otherwise good but smaller companies)

Evil. I don’t think it helps the conversation. More importantly, there’s a difference between what’s on paper and what actually happens when a company is sold or IPOs. At those times, if you want to celebrate it is great. But unicorn for paper valuation isn’t helpful.

The term is great but the obsession with trying to become one is evil.

Good. I think what's evil is people doing strange contortions to try to get the valuation that involve weird terms that end up hurting everyone, but there’s nothing wrong with aiming to be big and successful. That's all we all want.

Well, good, cause who doesn't like a unicorn. But because they're mythical animals I think the problem has been the overuse of the word.

It's evil. It's the wrong thing for people to be focused on.

I'll go with good. It's got pros and cons, but I think it's created a nomenclature and a lot of awareness for startup investing and attracted a lot of money to the space.
