I believe it is virtually impossible and would be extremely time consuming and expensive to do this. Patent documents are notoriously difficult to read and so you would have to hire a lawyer (and pay a dear hourly rate) to go through thousands of documents.
If you are violating a patent you will receive a "cease and desist" order and that is how you will know. My advice: Source from a reputable supplier to reduce your chances of willful violation of someone else's patent.
Trademarks:
A little easier as you can do keyword searches on various trademark databases. I've used LegalZoom's and it is fairly comprehensive.
