Digital marketing campaigns should have three very crucial components- business objective, platforms and benchmarks. While there are many aspects to marketing campaigns, perhaps these three components more than others will determine the process, tools and applications to to be effective.
Marketing objectives could include-
increase customer retention
reduce cost per customer acquisition
increase brand awareness
reduce cost per lead
Platforms refers to the different channels where the campaign will run
Emails and messages regarding the campaign
Google Plus shares
Benchmark metric indicates a target metric to shoot for or exceed. Basically, the goal for benchmarking is determining what is considered a success for the campaign. Ex: could be the number of Facebook likes or Twitter shares
I’m proceeding on the assumption that the marketing campaign objective(s) is/are clearly defined and there is/are benchmark(s) against which success can be measured
